Guggenheim and Kimmell didn't set out to found a tech startup. Guggenheim started his career in the music business working alongside artists such as Sting, the Samples, and the Dave Matthews Band. And Kimmell designed album covers and merch for artists like 3OH!3, STS9, and The String Cheese Incident. When they joined forces to create TextUs in 2013, they brought the rebellious spirit of their rockstar backgrounds with them.

"When we started out, we were pushing back against the idea that outreach for business had to be formal, stuffy, impersonal. A lot of execs doubted whether text messaging had a place in business at all," said Guggenheim. "Today, they realize it's difficult to succeed without it."
